JON LAUGHNER

Equipment Manager

Laughner was added to the Sun Devil men's hockey staff on July 17, 2017.

“After a thorough and detailed national search, Jon was the clear cut choice to join our program,” said head ASU hockey coach Greg Powers. “His positive attitude and approach to his job is a perfect fit for our culture and entire staff is thrilled that he will be joining us.”

Prior to joining the Sun Devils, he has spent the last five years as a head equipment manager in the ECHL. From June 2013 to August 2015, Laughner worked with the Utah Grizzlies -- the ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Anaheim Ducks. In August of 2015, he joined the Washington Capitals of the NHL for their prospects and main training camp as a volunteer equipment manager.

That month, he then joined the South Carolina Stingrays of the ECHL -- affiliated with the Capitals -- for the 2015-16 season as the head equipment manager.

Laughner returned to the Grizzlies for the next season, while also working at Mountain Sports International as the consumer marketing & athlete relations manager, while also serving as the director of ticketing for the Red Bull Air Race in San Diego.

“I can't explain how exciting it is to join ASU,” said Laughner. “To be a part of a program that is helping grow college hockey in non-traditional hockey markets is an honor. What this team is doing is so important for the growth of college hockey and I couldn't be more proud to be associated with it.”

Laughner graduated from Indiana University in 2007 with a double major in history and criminal justice. He also worked for the Indiana men's hockey team from 2002-2007 as the travel secretary.
